Information you give us. When you send a message through a contact form we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message. When you sign up for the newsletter, event notifications, or latest news we collect your email address.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device, referring page, and the pages you view. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Comments. If you leave a comment on a journal article we collect the data shown in the comment form, together with your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
When you sign up we send an email asking you to confirm your subscription. You are added to our mailing list only after you confirm. Every email we send contains an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe at any time by writing to [email protected]. We may record whether emails are opened and which links are clicked in order to improve what we send.
The website uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, and analytics tools, such as Matomo and Google Analytics, that help us understand how visitors use the website. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the website may then not work as intended.
Pages on this website may include embedded content such as videos and maps (for example YouTube and Google Maps) and links to social networks. Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you had visited that website: those services may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content. The website is also protected and delivered by a security and content-delivery service, which processes technical data such as your IP address.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run this website and communicate with you, such as hosting, email delivery, analytics, and security providers, and only as far as they need it to provide their services, or when the law requires it.
Messages and inquiries are kept for as long as needed to answer them and to maintain a record of our correspondence. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely unless you ask us to remove them.
You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw your consent to receiving emails at any time. Depending on where you live, including California and the European Economic Area, you may have additional rights under local law. To make a request, write to [email protected]. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
